It was hell just staring up at nothing, Damaria realized as she sat up scowling. The knife in her boot cut up against her leg uncomfortably. She sighed in anger and put a leg under herself to prop herself up. She removed her dagger and began to prick her fingers until crimson blood came out in droplets. She was bored and alone.

Ignominia had been wandering through the forest without knowing where she was going. Still, the darkness around her calmed her down and freed her of spare thoughts - what use was it to wheep for a past life? Suddenly she heard a noise and a few seconds later she saw a woman - one of the exiled elves. Blood was trippling down her fingers. Ignominia grinned and stepped forward. "Being here alone", she said and showed her teeth.

"I'm not alone anymore, now am I?" Damaria said without looking up. Her eyes were glued to her bleeding fingers. A cold wind blew through the trees and rattled the leaves. They only sign of movement from Damaria was her hair blowing past her in the breeze.

"But you are alone. I don't count", said Ignominia, her smile getting broader. She was not exactly hungry today, but playing games wasn't connected to hunger. "you are bleeding"

"If bleeding is having blood come out of an open wound, then I suppose I am," she said sarcastically. Damaria finally looked up to see this new comer. She sighed. Vampires weren't the greatest creatures to be around.

"You are right", replied Ignominia nodding. Her eyes glittered and she yawned to show her teeth. Elves are boring, they never wanted to play, she thought and stepped forward. "So, I'm not interested in ... eating right now. What do you do here, apart from bleeding". Her eyes flashed to the elf's fingers.

"Well," Damaria began. "I do this," she said and brought the tip of her dagger to her thumb. After she had bled enough, she brought her fingertips together, and the wounds healed. "And I practice magic," she smiled.

"practising magic", echoed Ignominia. "That's ... interesting. What else do you do here? I suppose you didn't come here to bleed. Seeking adventure"

Damaria shook her head. "I needed a break. Vyomini is on the brink of war. I heard humans arrived. We rarely ever used to see them. Now there are hundreds. People and creatures are getting angry. A break is needed."

"Humans are delicious, their blood is sweeter than an elf's" noted Ignominia pointedly. "But they're weak... it shouldn't take us much to overthrow them.

"You uderestimate them," Damaria said. "They can fight back stronger than some elves. They are stubborn and won't be moved. We have to push them fairly hard to bend them to our will."

"Aren't we also often underestimated? The single person may be stroger than one of us, but they're few and the tend to argue. There is a chance to overthrow them - if this queen of... elves doesn't join their forces. But I guess she won't be queen for long..." She smirked. "War may come, we welcome it"

"I don't," Damaria snapped. "War only ends in destruction."

"Destruction is what we vampires are made for", noted Ignominia. "Or do you see any other reasons for our existance" Again she smiled, reveiling her pointed teeth.

Damaria sighed and began pricking her fingers again. She remained silent for awhie. The only sound was the wind.
