Valaina watched her brother walk back to the shadow side and it made her heart ache. She knew that he had not killed the other elf but there was no proof to support him. All she could do was hope that he was safe.
Suddenly she saw a movement...

Damaria emerged suddenly from the shadows.
"I remember you," she said to the girl and pointed a finger to her. "You're Valiana. I talked with you occasionaly. I think my mother knew yours quite well," she said. "Before mine died."

Valaina was shocked. "I uh think I remember you, Damaria isn't it? You startled me. I didn't see you there"

Damaria smirked and observed the grayness around her.
"Your brother isn't too popular among the exiled," she said to her. "He's to soft. People think he's a spy. It would be terrible if they actually had proof he was. Your meetings don't support him, you know."

Valaina stood glaring at the girl. "And what would they think if they saw you and I talking?"

Damaria shrugged. "I have a high ranking," she said. "They wouldn't mind. But you and your brother would be in big trouble," she smiled smugly.

"Why do I care?" Damaria said and laughed while examining her fingernails. "Well I do like to make people uncomfortable and worried. It seems as if I have succeeded already, too!"

"How do I know you aren't lying to me?" Valaina demanded.

Valaina stood there for a moment, speechless. "Is he alright?" she asked quietly "My brother, is he alright?"

"If I don't talk he's fine," she said and smiled brightly. "But it depends. What are you willing to do to keep me silent?"

"Name your price" said Valaina coldly.

Damaria smiled, a real genuine smile. Those came extremely rare from her since she was exiled. it was a reminder of when she was happy.
"It's not really a price," she said. "I just need you to deliver two letters for me. One is for Princess Morianida and the other is for one of her guards, Tylanche Robinsword. I need them to get these, or else I will get you and your brother in trouble. Understood?" she said and produced two letters roled up neatly and tied with a green ribbon.

"Princess Morianida and Tylanche Robinsword" Valaina repeated "What's in the letters?" she asked.
