It was a regular job. Find the target, kill him, bring back his head, get paid, and move on.
And best of all, it was a human.
This particular human had originally been part of a gang, going around and terrorising those with magic. He didn't have a gang any more. Kayern had seen to that.
And now there was only one left. It filled Kayern with a kind of savage pleasure. Kayern would kill anyone, if paid enough. Even other werewolves, although he charged more for that; emotional trauma and all. But humans... he always relished the hunting of humans a lot more.
damn that elven queen and her tollerance of the bastards.
Suddenly, Kayern heard someone approaching. He sniffed the air. It wasn't his target. On these dusty backroads, who on earth could it be?

Anya had been boredly loping around, not caring which scent crossed her path, and not paying any heed to which creatures path she crossed.. Though she stopped when she caught Kayern’s scent and saw him, it was rare when she stumbled upon any other werewolves... Though when she did, only one left the area, the other was left for its carcass to be eaten by another lowlife creature, scavenging.. She did not feel like fighting and hoped this wolf was not the blood thirsty sort, though she knew she was being hypocritical... She stared at him with faded golden eyes, that glazed over him. Wondering how quickly she could finish him off, and searching for weak spots..

((OOC: I'm assuming Anya's in her wolf form.))
Kayern stared. Other werewolves were rare in these parts nowadays, and to come across one alone was even more unusual.
His mind worked quickly. She was smaller than he would be in his wolf form, but that did not mean she would be weaker. The fact that she was even in her wolf form, when it wasn't even full moon, spoke volumes about her prowess. Kayern knew he could only transform at other times of the month when it was absolutely necessary, and then feel terrible afterwards. But this wolf seemed perfectly comfortable.
He didn't like the way she was eyeing him. She was expecting trouble. And he had a job to do.
He casually ran a hand through his hair, pushing his fringe away from his odd-coloured eyes - one green, one brown. Then he folded his arms in front of his chest, a defensive gesture, but not one threatening.
"And you are?" He asked.

She blinked casually, her peircing cool eyes still glazing over him.. She didn't like how he asked who she was... 'Does it mater...?' Her tone held no emotion...

((Ja, sure. ))
The corner of Kayern's upper lip curled in an unconcious snarl. He had work to do. He didn't need some high-and-mighty wolf to muscle in on his jobs.
"I would think it does." He said mildly. "My name is Kayern." He added, by way of appeasement.

: x3 :
She fixed her gaze onto his eyes, not blinking.. She was trying quite hard not to smirk, the tip of her tail flicked amused. 'Well hello Kayern...' Her tone was sickly sweet, though her expression was innocent.

Kayern glared at her. "I don't have time for this. I'm working. Nice as it is to meet another wolf, chatting doesn't pay for food."
Deciding that was the end of the conversation, he began to move past her.

*thud*, just as Kayern finished talking, it sounded like something had fell. Two voices were shouting at each other. ~Next time I want a passenger, I'll ask for it!~ A dark, unclear voice shouted. "Whatever, you flying twit!" Laughed the other, which sounded more joking than serious. (yes, I'm using two of em 0.o')

(((OOC: OMG, sorry I haven't been around. I've just started second-year varsity, and with classes and Societies Week and the fact that my dad refused to pay the phone bill for two weeks after it was cut off... it's just been hectic. But I'm back, and hopefully I'll have more time to hang out here!)))
Kayern heard the thud of something hitting the ground and bared his teeth in a snarl of irritation. 'What now?' He wondered to himself. 'Can't an assassin ever just go about his business without something annoying happening?'
Growling to himself under his breath, he drew his sword and pointed it in the direction of the noise. "Who's there?" He demanded. "Show yourself!"

Kieth lay there, in his near-human form.. WHich was as close he could make it. Covered in the cut-open leather armor. Drake standing over him, a long spear drawn. ~Heh, you ought to watch that toothpick of yours, human..~ Drake replied to Kayern, using his dark voice to his advantage. "Man... down... owch... You could have dropped me somewhere other than the thorny bush.." Complained kieth, getting himself up from a rosebush, removing a few thorns.

Kayern's eyes flickered to the other wolf in annoyance. "Don't you have anything better to do?" He snapped, before turning his attention back towards the voices. "No answer, huh? Well, I'd rather surprise then be surprised."
With that, he walked purposefully over to where the two had landed, sword clutched in one hand. "I said, who's there?"

~Heh, you ought to watch that toothpick of yours, I said..~ Drake said to Kayern, in a raised, rather joking voice. ~Are you humans truly this deaf?~ He added, snickering. Kieth stretched, rumbling a low laughter at Drake's comment.
